Casting call for new HBO miniseries
The casting director who chose the wolf pack in the Twilight movies is in Fort Hall Friday and Saturday looking for Native Americans who can fill several roles in a new HBO miniseries, including the pivotal role of Sacagawea.
Rumors abound that Brad Pitt will be involved, and more rumors state Tom Hanks and Edward Norton will also be involved in production. According to a press release from casting director Rene Haynes, John Curran is slated to direct.
The six-hour HBO miniseries will star Casey Affleck as Meriwether Lewis as he and William Clark journey across the west. Based on the book “Undaunted Courage,” by Stephen E. Ambrose, the miniseries needs Native speakers to fill roles for all ages.
The casting director said she is looking for speakers of the following languages: Shoshone, Nez Perce, Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Blackfeet, Chinook, Clatsop, Walla Walla, Sioux and Shawnee.
They are looking for Native men who are lean, fit and skilled riders, as well as Native American folks of all ages. The casting goes from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Timbee Hall in Fort Hall.
