Eastern Idaho business makes a splash

It all started with a little girl’s dream of being a mermaid and a grandma who made that a reality by making her a swimsuit.

No one knew it would end up being so much more.

“We are one of America’s fastest growing companies,” said Eric Browning, CEO of Fin Fun Mermaid.

The company started up on eBay in 2010 and became a full operational business in 2012.

Just this month the company has sold its products to 85 different nations.

“I’m just here to say that the American dream is still alive, it is it’s alive, we are witnesses of it what’s happening and also there is a way that you can not just use it for yourself but you benefit the entire economy,” said Browning

A large portion of production takes place at Dawn Enterprises in Blackfoot.

Dawn Enterprises offers jobs to people with disabilities who might not otherwise find a job.

“They do such a good job, they are so committed. You see all that they are doing and the enthusiasm they feel towards our products,” said Browning.

The company has branched out by making shark swimwear for boys.

A new collection, Mermaidens, was recently released by the company.

The collection features seven princess characters, and in the next few weeks, a Mermaiden game app will be released.

“There’s certain toys you might remember as kid that you played with and you never forget, and we want that to be the experience for these kids,” said Browning.

Browning says his company isn’t going to stop creating anytime soon.

They hope to make the stories of the seven Mermaidens into a cartoon series.
