Woman rescued from Idaho Falls fire

Idaho Falls firefighters rescued a woman from a fire early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the fire at 6400 N. Fifth East after a passerby called it in around 5 a.m.

Fire chief Dave Hanneman said the woman rescued from the house was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The woman, Patricia Gaston, was in fair condition at EIRMC as of late Thursday morning.

The house, however, was a complete loss. Hanneman said since it was in a rural area, there were no hydrants nearby.

Three engines and 15 firefighters responded to the fire.

The fire was quickly contained. The cause is under investigation.
