Woman who police say took envelope of money identified

Idaho Falls police said they have identified the woman who allegedly took a large amount of cash in an envelope that was accidentally dropped by another customer at the West Broadway Albertsons.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, said he had $1,500 in cash in an envelope. While he was buying something at Albertsons, it fell out of his pocket.

Police said the woman picked up the envelope, saw it contained cash, and hid it in her pocket.

The man discovered he had dropped the envelope. He went back and found the envelope was gone. He contacted police Feb. 19.

Police have not released the woman’s identity.
