Snow King gets approval to build new lift

Snow King Mountain Resort has won permission to replace its Rafferty Lift and construct a new ski trail.

The project required Bridger-Teton Forest approval because up to five acres of land involved in the project falls under the Jackson resort’s existing special-use permit. Snow King will begin to fell trees as soon as March 23.

Bridger-Teton National Forest Supervisor Tricia O’Connor said, “We understand how important this lift replacement is to the revitalization of Snow King. There will be more activities to participate in while increasing Jackson’s great reputation for its diversity in outdoor recreation.”

The Rafferty Lift was built in the 1970s. The new lift will provide access to additional terrain for beginners and intermediate skiers. It will also support new planned and proposed summer uses, including an alpine coaster on private lands and the aerial adventure course in the forest.
