Man dies after being rescued from Blacktail Reservoir

A 67-year-old Rigby man died on Sunday after he was rescued from Blacktail Reservoir.

Passerby found Rocky H. Smith yelling and splashing in the water at around 10:30 p.m. Friday. They pulled him from the water and called 911. He was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

His 2002 Buick LeSabre was pulled from the lake Saturday morning.

Deputies said it appeared the car had been driven off the Blacktail Boat Ramp into the lake.

They confirmed Smith’s death Monday.

Investigation is continuing.
