Bingham Memorial Hospital investigation closed

Bingham Memorial Hospital says it has received word that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has closed its investigation of the hospital.

CMS launched an investigation earlier this month based on a patient’s allegation the hospital failed to adopt and follow a policy regarding the availability of an on-call physician and, secondly, that an on-call physician failed to appear at the hospital to provide emergency services.

Bingham Memorial Public Relations Director Mark Baker released a letter from CMS. to the hospital, which stated, “The proposed termination action from our March 2, 2015, letter is rescinded. We are closing the termination action and this case. We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to working with you on a continuing basis in the administration of the Medicare program.”
