Man dies in potato cellar collapse

One man was killed and another hurt when a potato cellar collapsed before noon on Thursday in Monteview.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Ronald James Ball Sr., 71, and Eric Scott Ball, 30, were tearing down a cellar on 2700 North when the frame collapsed on top of them, pinning them underneath.

Gordon Rudd, 75, saw the accident and called 911.

Ronald Ball was pronounced dead at the scene. Eric Ball was transported via ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was treated and released.
