Internet service restored for 2 counties

Phone and Internet service has been restored in two southeastern Idaho counties.

A fiber line was accidentally cut during maintenance between Montpelier and Soda Springs on Thursday morning around 8.

Rick McKinney, the vice president of operations for Syringa networks, said cellular and Internet service was out for nearly five hours in Bear Lake and Caribou counties.

Services were rerouted until the line was repaired, McKinney said.

McKinney said the line does not belong to Syringa, but it does offer services on it.
