5K celebrates Mother’s Day

Southeastern Idaho Public Health had a healthy and fun way of celebrating Mother’s Day.

SIPH hosted their 8th annual Mom ‘n Me Fun Run/Walk at Pocatello’s Centennial Park on Sunday. The route started and ended at the park and included a part of the Portneuf Greenway.

The event started after SIPH’s funding for the “Girls on the Run”event ended.

A number of families come year after year, many say it’s a great way for families to spend some quality time together.

“I just think it’s good to get together with your mom and family,” said Dixie Donyes, a second-year participant. “They do it early enough in the day that you can still go out and do things. You can get together, have a little breakfast afterwards and spend the day together.”

Close to 450 people participated in the 5 kilometer run this year. All money raised will go to SIPH’s health promotions.
