Pocatello doctor returns from Nepal relief mission

Dr. Fahim Rahim arrived at his Pocatello home around 5:30 pm. Monday after an almost two-week trip to Nepal to help those affected by last month’s earthquake.

Rahim and several hundred volunteers traveled some of Nepal’s hardest hit and most remote villages in a rented helicopter. They dropped off supplies and provided medical attention to those affected by the quake.

As of Sunday, 8,019 were killed in the quake, 17,866 people were hurt and 366 were still missing.

Rahim has posted video of his trip on his Facebook page.

He said monsoon season is right around the corner said the risk of mudslides is imminent. He’s hoping those in danger areas can be evacuated before that happens. If you’d like to donate to Rahim’s relief effort, you can do so here.
