Event honors those in law enforcement

In honor of National Police Week, local law enforcement gathered for a flag-raising ceremony in Chubbuck on Wednesday.

The annual event is meant to honor all men and women who have served in law enforcement. After the flag was raised, Chubbuck Police Chief Randy Severe and Mayor Kevin England gave invocations.

The late Sergeant Gregory Moore from Couer D’Alene was given a special mention during the ceremony.

Severe says police deaths all over the country hit hard in Chubbuck, but not as much as the ones in Idaho.

“We still pay attention to those things, we still mourn that loss, but when it’s one of our own here in our own state it certainly gets more personal to us,” said Severe.

Military veterans were also honored at this ceremony.
