Fire burns in Fort Hall field

A field near several homes in Fort Hall caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

The fire burned in a part of the reservation in Power County on the 1300 block of Government Road West, northeast of the airport. It ignited after a power transformer blew and sparks landed in the field, authorities said.

The fire started around 2:20 p.m., and firefighters had it put out about 30 minutes later.

As of 3 p.m., crews were working to repair the power lines.
