Defendant in beating death makes court appearance
The man accused of beating Josh Olzak to death appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
Tanner Cox is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
A judge ruled Tuesday there was enough evidence to move the case forward, which means an arraignment is next. It will be June 18.
The state called three witnesses to testify: the doctor who performed the autopsy on Olzak, a police officer, and Josh Loveless, who was with Olzak during the fight.
The doctor said there was blunt force injury to Olzak’s face, and the brain was bruised.
Loveless recalled the fight that night. He remembered being hit and going over to Olzak. He found Olzak unconscious. Loveless said he cannot remember everything about the incident, and he can’t identify the attackers.
