Program that teaches kids about finances comes to Pocatello
Junior Achievement programs are officially launching in the city after a successful run last school year.
The JA program teaches students about financial education, college workforce readiness and business. It runs programs for students in kindergarten all the way through high school.
The program will be used in all of District 25’s schools next year, so the program is in need of mentors.
“You don’t have to be a teacher, you don’t have to be a financial adviser,” said Julie O’Meara, JA of Idaho chief executive officer and president. “All you have to do is want to give back to the kids. We will give you the curriculum and you just go in and inspire them, empower them to be their best selves.”
JA of Idaho is currently establishing a local regional board for eastern Idaho. Their next stop is American Falls; Idaho Falls is also on their list.
