Suspect named in 2014 Moreland murder
Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland has issued an arrest warrant in connection with the August 2014 shooting death of 21-year-old Miguel Davatos in Moreland.
Rowland identified the suspect as 55-year-old Daniel Magana. The sheriff said he believes Magana is somewhere in Mexico and that his office will attempt to extradite him to Bingham County to face charges.
Magana is charged with second degree murder, aggravated battery and unlawful discharge of a firearm into an inhabited dwelling. The warrant requests a million dollars bond.
Rowland said the charges were developed through a number of different factors. He noted it took a long time to convince potential witnesses to speak out.
Davalos died at 1954 West Taber Road just before 8 p.m. on August 18, 2014.
