Power pole fire leads to outage in Shelley

Rain led to a power outage in Shelley and some smoke in City Hall on Monday afternoon.

Assistant Fire Chief Randy Adams said the moisture from Monday’s rainfall built up on the top of a power pole on Center Street, which led to a fire that caused wires to drop to the street.

Some wires under the stairs in the basement of nearby City Hall smoked, but Adams said there was no major damage.

The outage caused about 935 power customers to be without electricity from about 4 to 5:15 p.m., Rocky Mountain Power said.
