Firefighters control graveyard brushfire

Fort Hall firefighters controlled a small brushfire in the graveyard area of theGood Shepherd Episcopal Church on Thursday afternoon.

The church is about 1 mile west of the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel.

The fire ignited around 2:00 p.m. and was contained by 2:30 p.m.

“There’s some stuff that’s still burning inside and there’s some dead trees that have fallen over and some trees that need to be taken down and cleaned up,” said Fort Hall Fire Chief Brian Briggs. “So there’s a lot of cleanup going on inside there for putting the fire completely out.”

Firefighters suspect it was started by fireworks.
