Fort Hall child center evacuated

Children aged 3 to 5 were evacuated from the Early Childhood Development Center building on Ross Fork Road on the Shoshone-Bannock Reservation around 11 a.m. Thursday.

Tribal Public Affairs Manager Randy L’Teton said staff and students were relocated to the gym at the Shoshone-Bannock Junior/Senior High School.

The evacuation was ordered after construction crews broke a natural gas line. The building has been closed for the day.

Roadblocks were still in place at Hi Line and Simplot, Simplot and Ball, Eagle and Simplot, and Councilman Way.

Intermountain Gas crews were working to repair the leak.
