Idaho Falls police increase patrols in South Tourist Park

Idaho Falls police are making random patrols in a local park after recent complaints.

According to police, there have been several complaints of homeless people staying several days or longer at South Tourist Park.

The park usually only allows overnight camping for one night. That rule has since been repealed.

A new proposal limiting camping time has been put before City Council, but it has not been approved.

Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation said tents being set up in the same place for a long time kills the grass.
