Cabela’s hosts summer safety workshops

Cabela’s in Ammon is working to educate the community on safety this summer.

Today they hosted tables on water safety and wilderness survival.

A local Cabela’s expert on search and rescue taught customers on wilderness survival and first aid.

Bonneville county search and rescue also showed up with gifts for anyone learning to wear their life jacket out on the water.

“People assume that if [their life jacket is] just packed away in a compartment on their boat that somehow, magically, if they tip over or in an accident they’re going to be able to recover and get that life jacket out on their children or themselves and they just don’t work like that,” said Greg Rix, Bonneville County Search and Rescue.

In Idaho, anyone under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket on the water, anyone over the age of 13 must have one available to them.
