Body of missing man found in Blackfoot Reservoir

Crews have recovered the body of a prominent Blackfoot man who had been missing in the Blackfoot Reservoir, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said.

William Wallace, a Bingham County rancher and a former co-owner of C-A-L Ranch Stores, had been missing since 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Caribou County Sheriff Ric Anderson says Wallace was on the reservoir in a jet boat with his wife, granddaughter and her friend.

According to officials, the boat became clogged with moss and Wallace jumped in the water to clean out the propellers. However, storm winds blew the boat away.

Anderson says passengers swam to shore, but Wallace never made it.
