Kids learn how to build mini tool box

The Portneuf District Library in Chubbuck was transformed into a kids work bench. Home Depot supplied the tools and brushes for the kids to get down to work.

The goal was to build a mini tool box.

Kids tied on their orange aprons and lined up to grab their building kit. Parents assisted their young ones with the swinging of the hammer.

Each child designing and painting their tool box.

Home Depot employee Lorie McClenin said, “Today, I brought the basic, I brought pliers to help retrieve the bent nails. We brought hammers and of course the tools. When we do the projects in the store we actually have paint and paint brushes. And sometimes goggles. But they always get an apron and a pin.”

Parents and children worked together throughout the day to full fill their goal.

“The kids walk away with a great sense of accomplishment,” said McClenin.

The workshop is the first Saturday of every month and is free.
