Idaho fish and game planted sturgeon in the snake river here in Idaho Falls.

Sturgeon are a fish native to Idaho in the Snake River, but not to the Idaho Falls area.

It’s considered pre- historic, it’s more like a shark rather than a fish.

Idaho fish and game hope that this will attract more anglers to the snake river.

“It’s not native to the Idaho Falls area, but we’ve had a surplus of these in other parts of the state so we’ve moved them up here to create a fishery that’s purely recreational but one that we hope will be a little different than your average trout fishery,” said Gregg Losinski, with the Idaho Fish and Game.
