Dogs kill local family’s goats

Kids in Bingham County have been washing and prepping their animals to show all day. But for 9 year old Bradley Parris the show didn’t go as planned.
He won’t be showing his own goat this year.

“I’ve had the goat I was going to show since I was two,” Bradley said.

Kids like Bradley look forward to the 4H fair all year. All their time and effort pays off when they enter the show ring.

Early Sunday morning Bradley’s aunt went out to feed his prized goat, but instead found all of their goats dead.

Bradley’s aunt, Ashlie Parris said, “I stood up and I seen everything.”

Four dairy goats for Ashlie’s lactose intolerance and one nine year old grand champion show goat were killed by dogs….

“There were scratch marks on their body like where a dog would scratch, and there were very large dog prints,” Parris said.

Bradley said, “I almost threw up because of how much blood there was.”
Ashley said, “The rest.. fought. There was a lot of damage, a lot of blood. It was bad.”

Though the dog’s owner has not been identified Ashlie hopes the community will be on lookout.

“They’ve got the taste in their system. They’re gonna go back for more it’s just a matter of when they get out again. There’s no way I can replace what I just lost. I’m not looking for that. I’m not looking for revenge. I’m just looking for the dogs so we know, so the neighborhood can be aware. There’s a lot of goats and sheep in my neighborhood,” Ashlie said.

However this attack did not keep Bradley from competing. Other 4H clubs have come together to make sure he can still participate.

“We’ve got a few people here that they have extra goats that there kids brought in anyway. So they needed the handlers to show. So he’s stepping up,” Ashlie said.

Bradley has done well in the show. He said that he plans to sell his last dairy goat so he can buy another show goat for next year.
