Strong storms cause warnings across eastern Idaho

Strong thunderstorms moved across eastern Idaho Wednesday afternoon causing high winds and rain.

Between 3 and 4 p.m. a funnel cloud developed east of Idaho Falls and moved towards the Ririe Reservoir area and into Teton County causing a tornado warning. There’s no confirmation the funnel clouds ever touched the ground making it a tornado.

A 64 m.p.h. wind was reported at the southern Butte near the Idaho National Laboratory mid-afternoon as this storm rolled through that area.

There have been numerous reports of downed trees and branches from the wind. Also hail damage to local potato crops in the Shelley area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. Monday night.
