Detective describes Mitchell’s account of the stabbing
Audio recordings from a probable cause hearing suggest a homicide at a playground may have happened because of sexual encounter.
A detective from the Idaho Falls Police Department gave testimony about the investigation. He recalled the suspect, Brian J. Mitchell’s, statement of what happened the night Deraek Patrick Larson was killed.
“Brian was sleeping on his stomach in the tube and he was awoke, awoken by Deraek laying on top of him. So Deraek’s stomach would have been on Brian’s back inside of the tube, now this is Brian’s statement,” said Detective Joshua Deede.
