Local business recovering after canal flood

Idaho foot and ankle in Idaho Falls is working to repair their basement after a canal flooded- ruining the basement completely.

A nearby canal, which overflowed from a vandalized head-gate Sunday night wiped out the basement at the practice.

“It’s kind of surreal, it’s one of those things where you question is this really happening? Especially from a canal that’s suppose to be fairly controlled water flow so I think in our minds that’s kind of where the question leads is why did the canal over flow? and where are the deficiencies there and who’s responsible for that,” said Dr. Kylin Kovac of Idaho Foot and Ankle.

As of now, insurance isn’t covering the cost of the damage which could be more than $150,000 by the time reconstruction is completed.

Idaho Foot and Ankle is still seeing patients, Dr. Leavitt nearby is allowing them to utilize some office space for the time being.
