One person killed, four injured in crash near Howe

The Idaho State police have released more information about a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred Monday, September 7th, east of Howe, Idaho.

ISP was called in to assist the Clark County Sheriff’s office.

The crash happened on State Highway 22 at milepost 27. A 2001 Ford Escape drifted off the roadway, over corrected and then rolled. Karina Meza Diaz, 30, of Peru, was ejected from the vehicle and died due to her injuries at the crash site.

Mayer Macetaz-Ayala, 28, of Burien, Washington, Alma “Elizabeth” Ibarra, 34, of Ketchum, Idaho, and a juvenile were also ejected from the vehicle. A second juvenile was seat belted inside the vehicle and was transported by ground ambulance along with the first juvenile to Madison Memorial.

Ibarra and Macetaz-Ayala were ground transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. An additional passenger, Yuri Landeo-Orejon, 53, of Hailey, Idaho, was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle has not been determined at this time. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police did not say what the condition was of those who were transported to hospitals around the region.
