Former Malad coach arrested for sexual abuse of a minor
Former Malad High School coach Amanda Jo Ward has been arrested for sexual abuse of a minor. She was being held in the Bannock County jail on $25,000 bond.
Ward, 35, was dismissed from Malad High School in May. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Captain Karen Hatch said an investigation has been underway since then.
She said the Oneida County investigation was turned over to her office because of a conflict of interest. Ward’s mother works for the Oneida County Probation department.
Hatch said the ongoing investigation is linked to an incident involving a 16 to 17 year old female student. She said there may be other students involved who have not yet come forward.
