Idaho Falls man arrested for striking officers

An Idaho Falls man was arrested early Wednesday morning for striking two police officers.

Idaho Falls Police said Edgar Chavarria, 20, was found passed out in a stairwell at the Fairfield Inn, 1493 W. Broadway, at around 6:30 a.m.

Police recognized Chavarria as a man who had an outstanding Bonneville County felony probation violation warrant and an Idaho Falls vandalism warrant.

When Chavarria was woken up, he provided police with a false name.

After police confirmed his real name, they said Chavarria attempted to run away while being placed under arrest. According to reports, he struck two officers in the head before police tased the man.

Chavarria was arrested for felony battery on an officer, providing false information, resisting arrest, and the two outstanding warrants.
