Cabela’s big game season opener

Archery season is in full swing and rifle season is coming up quick. Cabela’s is working to make sure hunters are prepared for big game season.

Kasey Snell, Cabela’s Retail Marketing Manager, said, ” Today we have events geared towards big game hunts. So we have our field dressing demonstration, we also have scent control. Free antler scoring going on all day. And then we have the BLM here promoting fire prevention.”

The free antler scoring was a draw in for hunters. Official scoring usually costs nearly one hundred fifty dollars, here a scorer can give an estimate to whether you’re dealing with trophy measurements. The antlers are measured on the inside spread and the circumference of the prongs, if the points are different lengths, points are deducted. To be in the record book for white tail, antlers need to earn a total of 145 points. Hunting season isn’t just for men.

“Also on October 10th we have our lady’s day out,” Snell said. “That’s a day geared just for women in the outdoors. We have a concealed to carry fashion show, so women can come and see the different holsters that they can conceal and carry. We also have a women’s civil defense pistol class going on that day as well.”

Big game rifle season begins Oct. 10.
