Preliminary trial held for Yeates in Bingham County

A preliminary hearing was held Thursday in Bingham County for a high school soccer coach accused of having misconduct with a minor.

Alisha Yeates has already pleaded not guilty to two counts of misconduct in the Bannock County Court. Yeates is facing five counts of lewd conduct in Bingham County in addition to the two in Bannock County.

Prosecutor Paul Rogers brought the victim to the stand Thursday to discuss five instances in which she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with Yeates. During her testimony the victim stated in detail, instances where she claims she was intimate with Yeates.

Due to the inaccuracy of when the acts happened, changes have been made to the original criminal complaint to try and narrow down the time frame.

Defending Attorney Justin Oleson motioned to dismiss these five counts because the state could not provide sufficient evidence against Yeates but the motion was denied.

Yeates is scheduled to be back in the Bannock County court November 16th.
