Pocatello Animal Shelter wins grant

The Pocatello City Council has accepted a $40,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The award fully funds a Pocatello Animal Shelter project to enlarge kennels for small dogs and pay for the construction of another “cat bowl” holding area. The grant will also be used to purchase $5,000 worth of supplies.

“The enhancements to the kennels will help to make the dogs feel more secure and comfortable while they are at the shelter,” said Mary Remer, Animal Services Director for the City of Pocatello.

Construction will begin later this year.

The shelter will host it’s 18th annual “Run With the Big Dogs” race at the lower level of Ross Park Saturday. It will begin at 11 a.m.
