Northstar Healthcare offering free breast exams for October

At Northstar Healthcare is offering free breast exams this month for breast cancer awareness.

Northstar stresses the need for awareness in general, self exams, and coming in for a free exam. The healthcare says they recommend women starting at age 21 for getting breast exams annually.

Family physician, Laura Mason says breast cancer in men is on the rise. She says there are currently 2,300 cases a year with male breast cancer.

They welcome everyone to come in and get free exams for their well being and awareness.

“We felt that it was important to reach out to the community and offer something back to the community for women that may not do self exams or would like professionals to do their exams. So that we would catch something early. Early detection is so important. So you know, we thought we would do that this month.”
