Pocatello man who shot at police has first court appearance

Zachary Lee Davis was being held in the Bannock County jail on $50,000 bond after initial court hearings in Pocatello Friday.

Davis was arrested early Wednesday morning after an all-night manhunt. Pocatello Police said he fired three shots at a police patrol vehicle Tuesday night before running from police on foot.

According to Bannock County Prosecutor Stephen Herzog, Davis was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of eluding a police officer, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Davis was arraigned Friday and will face a preliminary hearing on October 27.

According to court records, Davis was also charged Thursday with one felony count of grand theft, one felony count of possession of a financial transaction card, and one felony count of attempting to elude a police officer in a motor vehicle. Preliminary hearings on those charges was also set for October 27.
