Homeless shelters fill up in winter months

Homeless shelters see more people looking for a warm place to stay during the winter months.

These shelters provide a bed or mat for them to sleep on. Some also provide meals and other services.

David McKinney, director of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission says, these services are important, as cold weather can be dangerous.

“They can get hypothermia; they can die of being out on the streets this time of year. So we’re really trying to bring people in who don’t have a place to stay,”he said.

McKinney says the Rescue Mission is always in need, and community donations really help.
