13 year old killed after being hit by a car
A 13 year old from Shelley is dead after being hit by a car near Taylor Park in Shelley. It happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Steven Hinkle was walking westbound on 1300 North in the westbound lane of the road.
Idaho State Police say John Mecham, 18, of Shelley, was driving westbound on the road in a 1993 Mercury Marquis.
Mecham’s car ended up hitting Hinkle.
Hinkle was transported by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls where he died from his injuries.
The road was blocked for nearly two hours. The crash is still under investigation.
