One killed in crash on Highway 20 near Thornton

UPDATE: The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a Tuesday night’s crash as 70-year-old Richard K. Caldwell. He was pronounced dead at the site of the crash, police said.

One person was killed Tuesday night in an accident on Highway 20 in Madison County.

The sheriff’s office has confirmed the man was the driver of the pickup. He was the only person in the pickup.

The accident happened just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Thornton interchange and involved a semi-truck. The semi ended up on top of a pickup crushing the cab.

As of 9:30 Tuesday night crews had removed the semi from off the pickup.

Traffic was down to one lane for a while but all lanes have since reopened.

The accident is being investigated by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with help from Idaho State Police.
