Alturas International Academy gets charter

Idaho Falls is officially getting a new elementary school.

Alturas International Academy Charter School received its charter Thursday in Boise.

However, it will not be part of District 91 and instead, be run independently.

It will also be funded by taxpayers.

The school will be up and running fall 2016, but first they have to find where to build it.

Phil Harper, a seat holder on the Altruras Charter School Board said,”We’re looking in a few different locations within Idaho Falls, but it will definitely be in the District 91 area.

Alturas International Charter School is being modeled after Sage International in Boise.
