Water main break to impact Idaho Falls traffic

The Public Works Department will be repairing a broken water main on Lincoln Road just east of Northgate Mile Monday night and Tuesday.

Traffic flows will be impacted. At this point, it is believed cold temperatures caused the breakage.

Crews will excavate the road Monday night, followed by repair of the water main and patch work Tuesday.

During repairs, the eastbound thru traffic on Lincoln Road will be reduced to one lane and likely shifted to the center turn bay. The goal is to have the repair work done Tuesday afternoon, before the evening commute.

However, the schedule may need to be adjusted due to the cold temperatures and the nature of the water main break.

Please watch for equipment and workers and follow all traffic signs and flaggers.
