Fort Hall recognized as first ever Purple Heart Reservation

The Fort Hall Indian Reservation was pleased to announce Wednesday it is now the first Purple Heart Reservation in the country. The ceremony took place at the Tribal Business Center this morning for all to see.

The Fort Hall Business Council and local Fort Hall Veterans Organization presented the proclamation.

“This is a big deal. It was said earlier in the ceremony, that it’s not something that happens because you have more purple heart veterans than other reservations. But simply because you support the purple heart,” said Josiah Dahlstrom, Adminstrator of Idaho Veterans Homes.

Organizers of the event say there are purple heart cities and states, but never a reservation until now.

Over 25 veterans were honored and introduced during the ceremony.
