Man tased after attacking Bonneville County deputies

A man was tased and arrested after he attacked Bonneville County deputies during a traffic stop in the parking lot near Fred Meyer in Idaho Falls.

The Bonneville County Deputies were conducting a routine stop of a car being driven by an unidentified woman. During the stop the man in the vehicle gave the deputies a false name. After this one deputies recognized the man as 27 year old Jason Cartier, of Idaho Falls, who was wanted on a felony warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

When deputies stopped the car and attempted to arrest Cartier he started to bite, kick and hit officers. The deputies tased Cartier twice in order to subdue him. After being subdued officers foundsuspected methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Two of the arresting deputies reported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center to be checked for minor injuries from Cartier’s attack. Cartier was also taken to the hospital to be checked before deputies finished the arrest.

Cartier was also arrested for felony battery on an officer and obstructing an arrest.

The woman driving the car was not charged.
