Rexburg police investigate break-ins

Rexburg Police are investigating three burglaries reported over the New Year’s weekend.

A woman living in the 500 block of Sunflower said someone found a hidden key to a safe and stole $500. She discovered the loss January 2 after returning from a two-week vacation. Police say they do have suspects in connection with the case.

A television, iPad, and other items were taken after a burglar forced entry at an apartment in the Gates Apartments at 291 East 7th South. A female student moved into the unit on December 12 and left on December 17. She discovered the burglary when she returned January 2.

The third burglary was reported January 3 after a female student returned to her Brookside Apartments unit at 487 South 3rd West. Police said it appeared someone made entrance through an unlocked door. The victim said her belongings had been moved, but she was unsure what may have been taken.
