Scammers target Teton County, Wyoming

Scammers are at it again. The Teton County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming says it’s received reports of a telephone scam.

The caller says they are from a national agency associated with the local fire department and burn unit. They go on to say they’re doing an annual phone drive to collect donations.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed with Jackson Hole Fire and Emergency Medical Services, they are not doing any fundraising or phone drives at this time. The Sheriff’s Office has been unable to find out where these calls are coming from.

The Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to be alert of callers asking for donations and money over the phone. It also warns never give out personal or financial information over the phone to unknown parties.

It also asks people to remind your friends and family to ask questions to validate the identity of any unknown solicitors or charitable organizations.
