State of the City Address to highlight 2015 accomplishments
Mayor Brian Blad and many other city council members will take a look back at the year that was. Events and projects will be looked at and considered what was a success and what was not so successful. It will be used as a gauge for enhancing the good and getting rid of the bad for 2016.
“One of the big ones is always economic development in the city. We’re always looking forward to recruit new businesses and retain more businesses. So economic development will be a big thing going forward. And some of the projects going forward is the water tank at the airport, that’s going to lead to some good improvements,” said Public Information Officer Logan McDougall.
McDougall says one of the biggest accomplishments this past year was the opening of the new South Valley Road, which connect 5th Ave. to Bannock Hwy. He says the completion of this particular project was highly anticipated considering it took over 20 years to complete.
The council meeting Thursday evening will also swear in new council members, such as Jim Johnston, Steve Brown, and Councilman-elect Roger Bray will be sworn in. And following, the council will elect a new Council President.
McDougall encourages the community to come out to Thursday’s meeting, happening inside City Hall at 6 p.m.
