Update: Investigation determines injured woman was attempting suicide
Update: Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday morning that after completing their investigation, it has been determined that woman involved was attempting to commit suicide.
The woman is still being treated at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Her name is not being released at this time.
Original Story: Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department and Idaho State Police are investigating an apparent shooting.
The incident happened around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon near the Pioneer Equipment offices just off 29th East.
According to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sergeant Bryan Lovell, the woman was found in a car with a gun shot wound to the chest. She was conscious and able to communicate with first responders. The unidentified woman was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment. Her current condition is unknown.
Sergeant Lovell says no further information is available at this time but will have an update Wednesday after further investigation.
