Long lines crowd convenience store for Powerball ticket.

Hundreds if not thousands of people have crowded several convenience stores Saturday for that hopeful, lucky powerball ticket. They know that Saturday night is a big night for America, as the second round of Powerball numbers will be announced.

People waited patiently outside in the cold, snow-fallen weather of Top Stop and KJ’s. Some people in the middle of the line, say they had waited a total of 2 hours and predicted another hour of waiting before they could reach the front.

The lines stretched from the start of the sidewalk in front, to around the building, and finally the warmth of inside the convenience store.

“We plan to go on more trips and pay some bills,” said Sarah Gilette of West Valley, UT.

She came with her family on a road trip to Malad for their tickets, hoping she’s the winner tonight.

Public Information Officer of Idaho Lottery David Workman, says he hopes the lucky winner will spend their fortune wisely and take only lump sums at a time. This comes after so many cases of the past with lottery winners going bankrupt after losing their fortune to greed and financial irresponsibility.

As the second round of numbers are announced Saturday night at 8p.m. MT, Top Stop clerk Trent Boot hopes there’s a winner called this time, unlike the emptiness that Wednesday’s round of numbers had left.
