Report of shots fired at Jefferson county church ends in arrest

A report of shots fired at a Jefferson County church ledto an arrest.

Michael Frandsen was booked into the Jefferson County jail after deputies received a report of shots fired at the Grant LDS chapel on E. 100 North late Friday night.

The Sheriff’s Office said someone inside the church alerted dispatch that a man in a tan Bronco-style vehicle pulled into the church parking lot and fired a weapon.

Ten minutes later, deputies found a vehicle matching the description.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found Frandsen, a .40-caliber firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition.

He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and felony possession of a firearm.

A window of the church is shattered.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is still investigating if Frandsen is responsible for the damage or if it was damaged previously.
