Rexburg Chamber names new manager

A longtime St. Anthony resident and Rexburg businessman has been named the new CEO of the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Ted Austin will replace Donna Benfield, who held the position for the past 20 years.

Austin will assume the office January 19, 2016.

Chamber President Dr. Geoffrey Thomas said the appointment was a unanimous decision by the Chamber board. “He is clearly qualified and enthusiastic about leading the Chamber as it benefits our growing business community far into the future.”

Austin most recently was Communications Manager for Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative in Ashton. He held management positions at Melaleuca, ML Technologies, and Diet Center. He also owned and operated KADQ-FM (94.3) and KCHQ-FM (102.1) radio stations in Rexburg.

Austin and his wife Connie have six children and eight grandchildren.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to lead the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the confidence the Executive Board has placed in me,” said Austin. “My first order of business will be to attempt to digest twenty years of experience and knowledge that departing Chamber CEO Donna Benfield has gained. She has done an exceptional job on behalf of the members of the Chamber.”
